Basic criteria of grant making
In making grants the Bow Valley Community Foundation stresses that the grant make a significant impact in the community through programs that are creative, responsive, diverse and flexible and meet the needs of our community.
Who can receive grants
The Bow Valley Community Foundation can only make grants to organizations who are registered charities with Canada Revenue Agency, or “qualified donees as” defined in the Canadian Income Tax Act.. Organizations seeking funds must …… ~ have a strong ,committed voulunteer board of directors ~ be fiscally responsible ~ demonstrate effective management of resources ~ have the capacity to carry out their stated mission ~ demonstrate how the balance of the funding required will be raised
What we fund
The Bow Valley Community Foundation awards grants to support activities …… ~ in the arts ~ in education ~ in social services ~ in environmental issues ~ in health ~ in culture ~ in recreation and sports or any other project that maintains or improves the quality of life in the Bow Valley.
What we do not fund
The Bow Valley Community Foundation does not fund …. ~ annual fund campaigns ~ deficit reduction or retro-active funding ~ individuals ~ fund raising activities ~ travel expenses and conferences ~ debt reduction and reserves ~ direct political and/or religious activities ~ ongoing core operating expenses and regular staff wages (Although this is standard policy we would consider exemptions in unusual situations.) The Bow Valley Community Foundation is in it’s development stage and is not as yet in the position to award grants. Keep checking our website for further news as to when we might be awarding grants.
